NAAAP-DC Professional Development Workshop in partnership with Asian-American Chambers of Commerce
Ever felt nervous about talking in public? Or curious about how to make a good speech into a great speech? This hands-on workshop will give you 101 in public speaking as well as a chance to try out some of your newly acquired skills, and get immediate feedback to help you improve.
Participants will be instructed on basic techniques for effective public speaking. Participants will also have the chance to practice these basic techniques one-on-one with another participant and also with the group as a whole.
Ryan Namata has been President of the Voices of SHRM, a chapter of Toastmasters International that is housed within the Society for Human Resource Management’s headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. He has been a part of Toastmasters for over three years, also serving as Vice President of Membership and of Education, creating content and instructional seminars for the group to increase competency in public speaking. Ryan works as a senior level HR professional, with over 12 years of experience in the field. He regularly presents to the community on a variety of topics, including public speaking, professional development, leadership and other applications of his human resource expertise. He has presented at local universities, community groups, non-profits who cater to the disadvantaged, as well as to business executives in Fortune 500 companies.
